Mestizo, coming from the Latin word for “mixed”, is a celebration of the rich and diverse culture inherent in both Latin America and Australia, and is a large focus of the restaurant’s food and beverage offering.

Who we are
Owner, operators and husband and wife team Jorge Guerrero (Argentina) and Sarah Harbison (Australia), have also run the Swing Bridge Cafe for the past four years, one of Lorne's most iconic beach side establishments.
Head Chef Julie Touma has over 18 years in the industry working in restaurants such as Lello, Fatto and Centonove to name a few, before owning her own restaurant Bayte, in Collingwood Melbourne.
Julie has impressed locals and visitors to the Great Ocean Road with her creativity and innovative flare. The Latin American cuisine on offer is driven by Julie's passion for Spanish cuisine, the owners' Argentinian heritage and the broad range of fresh, locally sourced produce.
The bar and floor team at Mestizo hail from Melbourne institutions such as Cookie, Eau de Vie and Section 8, and lean on 50 years of collective hospitality experience. Mestizo's drink list is broad to say the least. The offering of aperitivo are a great place to begin. However, for those keen to dive straight in, the extensive cocktail, wine and sherry list will impress even the most particular drinkers, not to mention the "cellar beer" selection.
